The Irish Wolves Belfast are one of the three founding franchises of the European T20 Premier League, representing Belfast in the six-team competition that launches in August 2026. The franchise brings professional city-based T20 cricket to Northern Ireland for the first time. The Floodlight Capital Consortium, led by former NRMA Group CEO Rohan Lund alongside Australian international Glenn Maxwell and strategic partners to be announced, the Irish Wolves have one of the most high-profile player-owners in world T20 cricket. For the full picture across all six ETPL franchises see our ETPL Teams 2026 guide.

Irish Wolves : Ownership

The franchise is co-owned by Glenn Maxwell, Rohan Lund, and strategic partners who are yet to be formally announced.

PLAYER-OWNER

Glenn Maxwell

Co-owner and player · Australia · ICC Men’s T20 World Cup winner 2021

One of the most recognisable and destructive batters in international T20 cricket, Maxwell has built a career defined by match-changing innings and an exceptional strike rate across the IPL, BBL, and international cricket. His dual role as player-owner is the defining feature of the Belfast franchise’s identity, creating a direct link between ownership and on-field performance.

Rohan Lund

Co-owner · Floodlight Capital Consortium · Former Group CEO, NRMA

Rohan Lund brings significant executive leadership experience to the Irish Wolves ownership group. As the former Group CEO of NRMA, one of Australia’s largest member-owned organisations spanning roadside assistance, insurance, travel, and parks, Lund has a proven background in running large-scale consumer operations. His involvement provides the Belfast franchise with a commercially seasoned operator at ownership level.

Further strategic partners for the Irish Wolves ownership group are expected to be announced in due course. This page will be updated as confirmations are made by the franchise.

Belfast, Northern Ireland and the ETPL

Northern Ireland falls within Cricket Ireland’s governance structure, with the sport growing steadily across the island. Belfast is Northern Ireland’s largest city and a significant market for sports engagement. The Irish Wolves franchise represents the first time a professional city-based T20 cricket franchise has been based in Northern Ireland.

The ETPL operates in partnership with Cricket Ireland, which governs cricket across both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Ireland is a full ICC member nation, having achieved Test status in 2017, giving the league a strong institutional foundation in the Belfast market. For the full ETPL context including format, fixtures, and all six franchises, see our ETPL hub page and ETPL Schedule 2026.

Betting on the Irish Wolves

Glenn Maxwell’s presence as player-owner makes the Irish Wolves one of the most compelling individual betting propositions in the ETPL. Maxwell regularly features in top batsman and player performance markets across T20 competitions globally, and is likely to be prominent in those markets for the Wolves once odds are published.

As with all six ETPL franchises, outright and match winner markets will depend heavily on full squad confirmations closer to August 2026. The Wolves’ position within the ETPL betting market will become clearer once the remaining three franchises are also announced and squads are confirmed across the board.
